Each year, I offer one or two CEU courses on writing and healing for helping professionals and others. I also conduct private workshops for helping professionals by invitation.
My courses are designed as a comprehensive overview for those who wish to incorporate writing as supportive to people suffering from loss, serious illness, or other life difficulties. They include an exploration of research on writing & healing and its application to different populations such as cancer survivors, war veterans, bereavement groups, low income women, at risk youth, senior citizens and others.
Different writing methods used to facilitate emotional healing and creative self-expression are also explored. The classes are designed to provide a foundation to the field of expressive writing and its application across a number of unique populations.
Writing as a Healing Ministry: a week-long overview course offered each summer at the Pacific School of Religion, Berkeley, CA. Participants will explore the history of healing writing, current research on the healing benefits of writing, discuss & experience a variety of different approaches to therapeutic writing with different populations as well as reflective writing and the spiritual discipline of writing. A one day course for MFTs, psychologists and other helping professionals who wish to incorporate expressive writing as an adjunct to therapy with those suffering from pain, trauma or loss, offered through Alliant International University, Continuing Education.
